An Opera Singer:
This summer, Ms. Bouk was featured as Madame Flora (The Medium) with Opera Oggi NY and as Lucretia, cover (The Rape of Lucretia) with The Opera Project. Since January, Ms. Bouk has performed a variety of roles including Dorabella (Cosi fan Tutte) with Underworld Productions, La Zia Principessa (Suor Angelica) with Opera Oggi NY, and The Monitor (Suor Angelica) and Filipyvena (Eugene Onegin) with Center City Opera Theater in Philadelphia, where she was an apprentice artist during the 2008-2009 season.
Performances in Fall 2008 included a revival of Leoni’s one act opera (L’Oracolo) as Uin-Sci with Opera Oggi NY, Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus) with Sinfonietta Nova, and the alto solos in Handel’s Messiah with Princeton Musical Amateurs.
Ms. Bouk holds a B.M. in Voice Performance and Music Education from the University of Cincinnati CCM and a M.M. in Vocal Pedagogy and Performance from Westminster Choir College. At Westminster, she embraced leading roles in scenes from Eugene Onegin, Carmen, and The Rape of Lucretia. Other roles performed include Cherubino (Le Nozze di Figaro), Nancy (Albert Herring), Marie (Moïse et Pharaon), Wood Nymph (Rusalka), Anne (The Mother of Us All) and Cinderella's Mother (Into the Woods).
A Music Educator:
As a music educator, Elizabeth Bouk is trained extensively in the Orff-Schulwerk method, which uses singing, movement, recorder playing, and percussion instruments to teach young children. Ms. Bouk taught general music for grades K-5 in Roselle Park, NJ for two years and served as the Children's Choir Director at Dutch Neck Presbyterian Church in Princeton Junction, NJ for four years. Using flute, recorder, and African drums, she has accompanied numerous choirs in the Princeton area including the Trenton Children’s Chorus, the Chinese American Music Ensemble, Rutger’s University Queens Chorale, and the Princeton Area Homeschool Choir. Ms. Bouk teaches private flute lessons to beginning students and teaches voice lessons at Colgate University.
